We are pleased to welcome attorney Nadine Peters to our nationally-recognized Health Care Group. Nadine comes to Verrill Dana with more than 15 years of experience as a health care and privacy attorney and focuses on clients within the health care and life sciences industries. Most recently, Nadine served as Deputy General Counsel at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), an independent non-profit organization authorized under the Affordable Care Act to fund comparative effectiveness research. Prior to PCORI, she was a Partner at Hogan Lovells for nearly four years in the Health and Privacy & Information Management practice groups where she focused on healthcare regulatory issues, particularly related to health information privacy, clinical research, and digital health initiatives. She previously served as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the General Counsel, where she provided legal guidance to program officials at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Nadine’s in-depth experience at PCORI, the federal government and other law firms will be a valuable asset to the Health Care Group’s thriving healthcare regulatory practice. She has counseled clients ranging from academic medical centers and health plans to biopharmaceutical, device and technology companies on multifaceted regulatory matters. Nadine’s focus areas include, among others, HIPAA and other privacy laws, human subjects research regulations, genomics research, electronic health information exchange, distributed data research networks, and consumer health websites and mobile applications. As an example of her deep experience in the privacy and security area, Nadine has developed sophisticated privacy compliance frameworks for companies in connection with patient support, care coordination and disease management programs, counseled research organization and provider clients on data governance issues and commercial contracts associated with secondary research use of data, and advised universities and academic medical centers on HIPAA privacy and security compliance associated with hybrid entity designation, fundraising, student health centers and data breach management and investigations.

Nadine received her law degree from Boston University School of Law and received her Master of Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Brown University.
